Weekend short trip #2: FRIM, Selayang

Hihi!

Finally I have some time to update about my second weekend getaway. I don't even think I can call it a getaway since we actually just went to exercise! Oh well, just another short day trip to unwind from the busy work life.

Road to FRIM: About 30 minutes from KL
FRIM is a forest reserve in the state of Selangor. There are some nice walking trails and mini waterfalls/ streams for visitors to picnic. There is also a canopy walk but unfortunately at the time we visited the canopy walk was closed for maintenance.

Opening hours:
Monday - Thursday 8.00 am - 1.00 2.00 pm - 4.30 pm
Friday 8.00 am - 12.15 pm, 2.45 pm - 4.30 pm

Entrance fee to FRIM RM5 (for Malaysian Citizens RM1, Mountain Bike RM2, Car RM5)

The lush greenery just gives me a sense of calmness
Walking along the trail, great for exercising!
And oh yes, one of the things we did other than walking on the trail and soaking our feet in cool, clear streams is riding the tandem bike! But I must say it is really difficult especially when we wanted to get up the slopes.... my legs went jelly after cycling. We rented it for 1 hr, I think it was around RM16(?), but it wasn't very expensive. Trust me one hour is more than enough dose of exercise for a city girl like me.

The scenery we got to see after sweating to get up the slopes!

So if you want to escape the city and breathe in some fresh air, why not do it locally and head to FRIM in Kepong!

Weekend short trip #1: Colmar Tropicale, Bukit Tinggi, Pahang

Hello my dear readers!

Been like 2 weeks since my last update and I am honestly quite busy these days with a video shoot for Chinese New Year and some reports to finish. Anyway, just like to write about my trip last Saturday to Bukit Tinggi. It was a one day trip just to escape the city that took us about 1.5hr to reach becaused we stopped over for breakfast at McD

Google map directions...
Entrance to Colmar Tropicale Resort that is modeled after the town of Colmar in France
The dainty town of Colmar, France. Makes you want to visit the place!
It's quite easy to get there with Waze and we had to pay RM13 for the entrance fee per person. Once you reach the hilly roads, the air gets cooler and it's time to wind down those windows :)

Parking is free and there are plenty at the Chateau Spa and Organic Wellness Resort so no need too worry! They also have shuttle service that takes tourist around the surrounding area - Japanese Garden, Rabbit Farm, Horseback riding, Flying fox.

Since I was only there to enjoy the scenery, we didn't go for the other activities but enjoyed a free show at a small stage where there was kungfu performance and a simple magic show. The rest of the time was dedicated to picture taking because the architecture provides a really nice background!

After taking lots of pictures, we decided to have our lunch at the nearby town of Bentong. Actually I even brought spare clothing because we were planning to visit Chamang Falls at Bentong after lunch but it is closed (until 1 February). All in all, I think it is worth a visit but be reminded that food and drinks can be pretty pricey up there (RM8 for a can of coke). So go take away some chicken and have picnic with family instead!

Cost of the trip:
Toll : RM20.50
Lunch: RM17 for 2
Entrance Fee: RM13 each
Petrol: RM20

My 2016 New Year Resolution :)

Yes I know, it has already been a week into the year 2016. Actually I was taking time to really think about what I want to do differently this year as compared to last year. As they say, take small but doable steps is better than big yet unrealistic goals.

So here are some of the little things I am committed to for 2016...

1. Eat more healthy

Image result for healthy eating meme
Oh yea... and that issue has to be resolved first

Okay, not that I eat like a bunch of junk everyday but I do have cravings for sweet stuff (don't all we women do?) Anyway, instead of sweets, I just bought a blender so I can make some juice like papaya milk etc like at least 3 to 4 times a week just to feel like I'm being healthy Somehow I just hope and pray my blender doesn't start collecting dust after 1 month... so far everything is as planned :)

2. Go swimming once in 2 weeks

The thing I need to repeat in my mind for 2016
Yes, it is kind of a well known fact that I don't exercise (unless walking 5 minutes to the LRT station qualifies than I am having my fair share of it everyday). But this year is going to be different! I shall, I shall and I SHALL go swimming at least once every 2 weeks. I know what you guys are thinking, sounds pathetic but this is really a huge leap for a lazy bum like me who doesn't even bother to put on make up to work just to sleep in that extra 20 minutes.

3. Drink more water

Now this is kinda creepy... but just do what the water droplet says, it's good for you!
I am also so dehydrated! I mean like I love my daily dose of coffee (dehydrating), I work in an air-conditioned office for up to 8 hours a day and I sweat like a lot (thanks to sweaty palms & foot). So this year I better really get enough water to flush out those nasty toxins in my body and keep myself from getting headaches and such... having a bottle on my desk 24/7 really help because I am reminded to drink up every time I see my bottle.

So there you have it, 3 things I want to work on in 2016 to get myself healthy and ready to face 2016 :)

What are your small steps to victory in 2016?
